Location of the part in robots environment is an indispensable information required for the robotization of a given process. In most solutions we can find mechanical solutions for basing part so that it is always in a repeatable place. However, this method is not applicable for parts of non-standard shape or dimensions. This is where machine vision comes in handy. Two-dimensional vision systems - 2D and 2.5D allow industrial robots to locate the part in its environment. They can be also used in determining the properties of the part, e.g. in quality control of a final product such as: defect detection, dimension recognition, operation recognition.
In our integrated machine vision system, based on a industrial Dahua camera selected for the process is responsible for image acquisition. Processing, classification and communication with the industrial robot is based on the Adaptive Vision applications. We also provide appropriate lighting conditions by using the necessary illuminators or blinds.
In our implementations, we also use a laser module that allows the vision system to achieve depth recognition, which allows to detect, for example, layer of parts in tray or parts height estimation.
